About Me

Dear Reader,

Who am I, you might ask. It’s a hard question that I don’t think I can ever give an adequate answer. I’ll start with a few facts:

  • Born in São Paulo, SP, Brazil
  • Living in Seattle, WA, USA
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Computer and Digital Systems from Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University
  • Worked at Amazon.com from October 2004 to June 2017
  • Have been working at Sift from July 2017 (I guess it was called Sift Science until January 2019)

My hobbies are (in no particular order):

  • Working on random projects
  • Entertaining my 5-year-old son (closely related to the random projects above) and a little bit my almost-1-year-old son (much harder to entertain with random projects)
  • Taking care of my garden
  • Singing in a choir – currently singing with the Seattle Jewish Chorale
  • Cooking – my favorite style is to try different things all the time and not be scared by any particular ingredient or technique (as long as it doesn’t require buying very expensive equipment, like some of molecular gastronomy stuff)

That just gives you a frame of reference. In order to really answer your question, feel free to read my blog. It will be more up-to-date with my self-ness than I can ever hope to capture on this static page.
